LG Electronics Selects Isle of Wight County for New Chiller Assembly Facility
RICHMOND, VA — Governor Abigail Spanberger announced today that LG Electronics will establish a new HVAC systems assembly facility in Isle of Wight County — creating 164 new jobs for Virginians through more than $63.9 million in new capital investment.
The company will manufacture large-scale air-cooled chillers for industrial clients at the new 352,000-sq.-ft. 460 Commerce Center located in Shirley T. Holland Intermodal Park. The investment is part of a significant expansion of LG Electronics’ global HVAC business and will enhance the company’s ability to serve customers throughout North America.

Not only will this investment create more than 150 new jobs in the community, but these energy-efficient innovations will be key to meeting Virginia’s growing energy demands and building a more sustainable future.”

LG’s air-cooled centrifugal chillers incorporate refrigerant-free cooling technology, using cool outdoor air to lower the compressor cooling load and help conserve energy. LG’s new Virginia facility aims to support a stable, responsive supply system for the rising chiller needs across North America, while serving as a strategic base for LG’s regional expansion. Production at the facility is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.

“With our first chiller plant in the United States, LG is addressing the growing need for advanced cooling solutions for data centers across the country,” said Chris Ahn, President of LG Electronics USA’s Air Conditioning Technology division. “Chillers produced in Virginia also will support LG’s role as a total HVAC solutions provider offering U.S. customers a broad portfolio of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and water heating products, and building controls.”
LG’s investment in Isle of Wight County represents the latest development in Virginia’s growing climate and temperature systems manufacturing industry critical to supporting a variety of other industrial sectors in the Commonwealth, including pharmaceutical manufacturing, food and beverage, digital infrastructure, and logistics.
