The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is the state economic development authority for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Created in 1995, VEDP collaborates with local, regional, and state partners to encourage the expansion and diversification of Virginia’s economy. VEDP works to accomplish these objectives through a variety of activities, including marketing and lead generation; business retention, expansion, and attraction; trade development; business intelligence; competitive benchmarking; site development; performance-based incentives; and talent solutions.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Human Resources Manager in the Human Resources Division to manage the performance evaluation process from job descriptions to annual evaluations, provide support and training to managers related to employee performance, and research best practices in performance management to suggest strategies for improving the existing program.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) is seeking a Supply Chain Program Manager to lead and manage Virginia’s Supply Chain Optimization Program (SCOP), supporting Virginia businesses in optimizing their supply chain management processes.

Virginia’s Supply Chain Optimization Program helps Virginia businesses evaluate and strengthen their supply chain processes for inputs and components used in future exporting initiatives. Companies that participate in the program can receive reimbursement for supply chain-related expenses as well as training from supply chain experts. The Supply Chain Program Manager will report to the Assistant Vice President, International Trade, and will work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and participating companies to deliver impactful program outcomes.

This position is part of VEDP’s International Trade Division, which is recognized as the leading state international trade development program in the U.S. The International Trade Division provides a range of resources such as customized market research, international business meetings, and programs to help Virginia companies grow their international sales. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) seeks a Vice President, Marketing & Communications to lead the Commonwealth’s efforts to promote Virginia as a Top State for Business. This position oversees integrated marketing strategies that showcase Virginia’s competitive advantages, including digital branding, trade show engagement, and site consultant outreach. This role will interact professionally, collaboratively, and strategically with all divisions of VEDP as well as local, regional, and state partners, and site selection consultants, often engaging and leveraging resources where viable to accomplish the division’s objectives and providing relevant support to achieve VEDP’s goals and mission. Critical to the outreach component of this role is the ongoing cultivation of VEDP’s relationships with site selection consultants, who represent companies in their search for best business destination to relocate or expand their business operations across the United States. The Vice President, Marketing & Communications is a member of VEDP’s Business Development Core Group, ultimately reporting to the Sr. Vice President, Marketing, Communications & Research and Chief of Staff.

Internship Opportunities

The Virginia Economic & Tourism Intern Program is 10-week, paid, experiential learning opportunity offered by the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) and Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC). At its core, this cohort-style program offers students an opportunity to explore employment in a government organization while growing their professional skills. Interns take on active roles in their teams and are welcomed to participate in company-wide functions as well as intern-specific experiences. Undergraduate and graduate students are eligible to apply.

We are looking for an Intern for the Business Investment Division during the summer of 2026 (10 weeks). This self-starting individual should be seeking on-the-job experience in economic development, policy development, and strategic analysis. Interns will complete a project and develop a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the internship. They will be part of an organization-wide cohort, providing networking and professional development opportunities throughout the summer.

We are looking for an Intern for the Economic Competitiveness Division, VEDP’s internal strategy team, during the summer of 2026 (10 weeks). This self-starting individual should be seeking on-the-job experience in economic development, policy development, and strategic analysis. Interns will complete a project and develop a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the internship. They will be part of an organization-wide cohort, providing networking and professional development opportunities throughout the summer.

 

VEDP is seeking a GIS and Cartography Intern in the Research Division during the summer of 2026 (10 weeks). The Intern will collaborate with the Cartography team on the creation and maintenance of cartographic products that help clients and staff understand the strengths of Virginia as a business location and secure new jobs and investment for the Commonwealth. The ideal candidate is seeking on-the-job experience in cartographic design within an established brand and utilizing GIS in a professional, economic development, and/or state government setting. Interns will complete a project and develop a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the internship. They will be part of an organization-wide cohort, providing networking and professional development opportunities throughout the summer.

 

VEDP is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented International Trade Intern for Summer 2026 (10 weeks) to support the Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program. VALET is a two-year international business acceleration program that provides Virginia businesses with international sales plan development services, educational events, funding for international activities, and customized market research. This intern will assist VALET colleagues in documenting and analyzing networks, strengthening alumni engagement, and communicating market intelligence and export-related opportunities. The position offers hands-on experience in strategic communication, data management, program analysis, and event coordination. The ideal candidate is passionate about international trade, eager to develop creative outreach strategies, and enthusiastic about supporting high-impact program events.  Learn more about the International Trade division at https://exportvirginia.org. We are seeking two Interns for the Knowledge Work Division during the summer of 2026 (10 weeks). The Knowledge Work Division focuses on ecosystem building and lead generation in defined industries: Aerospace and Defense Innovation, Business and Financial Services, Cybersecurity, and Software. This energetic, self-starting individual should be seeking on-the-job experience in economic development, government and policy, ecosystem building, and/or business attraction via lead generation.  Interns will complete a project and develop a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the internship. They will be part of an organization-wide cohort, providing networking and professional development opportunities throughout the summer.

 

We are looking for an intern for the Manufacturing Division during the summer of 2026. This position provides practical work experience at the intersection of economic development and manufacturing operations. The intern will support the Manufacturing Team’s efforts in research, data analysis, industry outreach, and project coordination while also spending dedicated time with the Manufacturing Team meeting and engaging with Virginia manufacturing firms and stakeholders to gain exposure to the diverse manufacturing sectors represented in the Commonwealth. Interns will complete a project and develop a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the internship. They will be part of an organization-wide cohort, providing networking and professional development opportunities throughout the summer.

 

We are looking for an Intern for the Real Estate Solutions division during the summer of 2026 (10 weeks). This energetic self-starting individual is seeking on-the-job experience in real estate, site development, economic development, and process management. Interns will complete a project and develop a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the internship. They will be part of an organization-wide cohort, providing networking and professional development opportunities throughout the summer.

We are looking for an Intern for the Regional Talent Solutions and Business Outreach during the summer of 2026 (10 weeks). This energetic self-starting individual is seeking on-the-job experience in economic development, public administration, marketing, or business and will complete a variety of projects with an emphasis on learning and development. Interns will complete a project and develop a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the internship. They will be part of an organization-wide cohort, providing networking and professional development opportunities throughout the summer.

We are seeking an Intern for the Virginia Talent Accelerator Talent Acquisition Team for the summer of 2026 (10 or 12 weeks based on preference). This energetic self-starting individual is seeking on-the-job experience in Talent Acquisition and Human Resources. Interns will complete a project and develop a presentation to be shared with staff at the end of the internship. They will be part of an organization-wide cohort, providing networking and professional development opportunities throughout the summer.
