Hilton Extends Stay in Virginia

Hilton is a leading global hospitality company with a portfolio of 22 world-class brands comprising nearly 7,300 properties. Since its founding in 1919, the company has welcomed over 3 billion guests and maintains a top spot on Fortune's 100 Best Companies to Work For list.

And in 2009, this globally recognized brand relocated to Virginia. 

That year, Hilton invested $17 million to move its global headquarters from Beverly Hills, Calif., to Tysons Corner in Fairfax County, creating 300 new jobs. In 2011, the company invested another $1.8 million to expand and relocate an additional 100 jobs in supply management to its Fairfax location. In 2023, Hilton made the decision to double down on its Virginia headquarters, investing in significant upgrades to the facility and setting the stage to hire 350 new employees by 2027.

Refined Accommodations

Hilton originally selected Virginia as the site for its new headquarters based on its strategic location, providing critical access to both domestic and international customers while significantly reducing operating costs compared to its former Beverly Hills site.

For well over a decade, the company has continued to invest in Northern Virginia. Because the area is one of the most educated and diverse in the United States, Hilton has been able to rely on a highly-skilled local workforce. Additionally, the ongoing upgrades, expansions, and improvements has created hundreds of additional jobs, showcasing Virginia’s ability to meet and exceed company goals. 

As a part of the 2023 expansion, Hilton planned to make significant upgrades to its facility at 7930 Jones Branch Drive in McLean. Hilton will re-imagine its space to create a more vibrant place to convene and collaborate, fully integrating technology into the office experience to meet the needs of the modern workforce. The expansion will also increase its workforce at the Fairfax County office to over 1,000 employees. Hilton has steadily grown its footprint over the years, now occupying the vast majority of the building space. 

A ribbon cutting is expected to take place in late 2026.

A Future Focus

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, Hilton adopted a new vision, focusing on how technology can transform and improve the hospitality sector. Virginia’s workforce is ready, with the Commonwealth making major investments to develop its tech talent pipeline, improve its STEM-oriented education programs and partnerships, and fund the creation of innovative tools to better prepare its workforce.
