Richmond - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership and Virginia Tech will host five exporting seminars in November entitled "Power Tools for International Profits." The programs will be held in five areas across the state and are designed to assist small Virginia firms seeking to develop export markets as well as individuals who have assumed export responsibilities with established exporting firms.

Participants will be given an opportunity to meet experts with proven track records in expanding into international markets. Representatives from the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the United States Department of Commerce and Virginia Tech will also be on hand to answer questions. The following topics will be discussed at the seminars:

  • How to find the best markets for your product or service 
  • How to find customers, distributors, agents and/or joint venture partners 
  • How to use trade and catalog shows to market your products 
  • How to obtain export credit and working capital financing 
  • How to ship your product internationally

The one-day seminar cost is $49 and includes all materials, refreshments and lunch. The seminars will be held at the following locations:

  • Roanoke Monday, November 17, 1997 
  • Staunton Tuesday, November 18, 1997 
  • McLean Wednesday, November 19, 1997 
  • Norfolk Thursday, November 20, 1997 
  • Richmond Friday, November 21, 1997
