$15 million investment to bring 75 plus jobs

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that AmeriCold Logistics will open a new processing and distribution facility in Shenandoah County. AmeriCold Logistics, Inc. expects to invest over $40 million and create up to 250 jobs at this location over the next five years. Governor Gilmore approved a $200,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund to assist the county with site preparation. Virginia successfully competed with West Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina for the new investment.

"AmeriCold Logistics joins a growing list of major distribution centers who have found that Virginia's strategic transportation asset really deliver the goods," said Governor Gilmore. "Virginia's proximity to markets and positive business climate will support AmeriCold's success."

AmeriCold Logistics, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, will construct a new refrigerated processing and distribution center in Strasburg. The facility, which is being developed in several phases, is expected to be fully completed in five years.

"After an extensive search, we determined the Strasburg, Virginia location was the best distribution point for us and our customers," said Dan McNamara, CEO for AmeriCold Logistics. "We look forward to becoming a long-term member of the local community."

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Shenandoah County Economic Development Partnership and Shenandoah County assisted AmeriCold Logistics with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services.
