Science Applications International Corp's expansion in Fauquier County to create 150 new job

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a San Diego-based high technology research and engineering company, will locate a new facility in Fauquier County. The SAIC Facility for Advanced Research and Modernization will focus on integrating the web technologies with mainframe and mid-range computer systems. The technology company anticipates increasing the staff to more than 150 employees over the next three years.

"I am delighted to announce SAIC’s expansion in Fauquier County," Governor Gilmore said. "This project will advance Virginia’s role as an information technological leader."

SAIC is a $4 billion company headquartered in San Diego, California. A diversified high technology research and engineering company, SAIC offers a broad range of expertise in technology development and analysis, computer system development and integration, technical support services and computer hardware and software products. SAIC is the largest employee-owned high tech firm in the nation, boasting more than 34,000 employees with offices in more than 150 cities worldwide. 

"We are excited to be a part of the Vint Hill community because of the abundance of highly qualified software engineers in the immediate vicinity, and the opportunity to be part of Vint Hill’s developing technology employment center," Vice President of SAIC Tracy R. Bair said. "We are working to establish a high-quality working environment that supports the creative development of new technologies."

"Virginia’s skilled engineers will have more tremendous job opportunities with SAIC," Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal said. "SAIC will continue to grow and succeed in the Commonwealth." 

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Fauquier County, and the Vint Hill Industrial Development Authority assisted the company with its decision. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services. Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal attended today’s grand opening ceremony.
