Virginia Economic Development Partnership Board Enlists Consultant for Executive Director Search

Richmond - The Board of Directors of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) has engaged Ms. Joan Jorgenson, an executive recruiting consultant, to conduct an extensive search for the organization’s vacant executive director position. Ms. Jorgenson will immediately begin a national search for candidates qualified in the economic development profession to lead Virginia’s business recruitment and trade development efforts.

"Finding the right professional to lead Virginia’s economic development efforts is a critical function of the VEDP Board," said VEDP Board Chairman J. Thomas Fowlkes. "The objective of the entire board is to build upon Governor Gilmore’s record year of job creation."

"Joan Jorgenson, president of Joan Jorgenson Consulting, is a recognized leader in executive search consulting for cities, counties, chambers of commerce and public/private partnerships," said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal, an ex-officio member of the Board. "Her firm was started as part of the oldest and largest site location and economic development consulting firms, PHH Fantus Consulting. Ms. Jorgenson’s expertise includes executive search, public and private sector organization development, and compensation and policy development." 

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership was created by the Virginia General Assembly in 1995 to encourage, stimulate, and support the development and expansion of the economy of the Commonwealth. The Partnership is a state authority, which is governed by a 15-member Board of Directors appointed by the Governor. Its Executive Director oversees all of the functions of the Partnership and is employed by the Board. To accomplish its objectives of promoting economic expansion within the Commonwealth, the Partnership focuses its efforts on Global Business Development, International Trade, and Business Development Finance.
