Siemens Information and Communication Networks facility opening to create 100 new jobs

Reston - Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore today joined Siemens executives and customers to celebrate the opening of the new region headquarters office of Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc. The new facility will allow for the creation of 100 new jobs in Fairfax County.

"We’re proud that Siemens is expanding its presence and activities in the Commonwealth of Virginia," Governor Gilmore said. "For almost two decades the company and its employees have been solid corporate citizens and have helped Virginia’s businesses stay on the cutting edge of telecommunications technology. We look forward to their continued growth and prosperity."

Siemens is one of the largest technology companies in the world, and its information and communications business delivers voice, data and multimedia networks to public service providers, private enterprises and government agencies. The new 75,000 square-foot facility in Reston is the headquarters for the company’s Eastern Area, National and Global Accounts. It also houses a Customer Support Center and Office Solutions Group.

"Siemens has recognized the importance of the Northern Virginia geographical market since we established an office here in 1980," President of the Enterprise Division for Siemens Information and Communication Networks George Nolen said. "Developing this facility and creating an additional 100 jobs is a strong reflection of Siemens’ commitment to Virginia and the high-tech information and communication market."

Including information and communications, the Siemens companies in Virginia employ more than 2,100 people in businesses ranging from the manufacture of automotive electronics to the sale of electronic and electrical products and systems for industrial construction customers.

Based in Boca Raton, Florida, Siemens Information and Communication Networks Inc. provides integrated voice, data and video communications networks to carrier and enterprise customers. Last year the company’s 7,000 U.S. employees generated sales of nearly $2 billion.
