Toll Integrated Systems, Inc. to invest $6.58 million, create 100 new jobs
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Toll Integrated Systems, a subsidiary of Toll Brothers, Inc., will create up to 100 new jobs in the City of Emporia and will acquire BSC Homecraft, a manufacturer of wood roof and floor trusses and wall panels. Toll Brothers will invest nearly $6.58 million in the acquisition, retention and expansion of the 11-acre facility in Emporia, saving the existing 50 workers employed by BSC. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina and South Carolina for the investment.
"I am delighted that Toll Brothers has selected Virginia," Governor Gilmore said. "The company’s acquisition of BSC will save 50 jobs and create 100 new jobs for the people of Emporia and its surrounding communities. My administration is committed to assisting all regions of Virginia in economic development."
Toll Brothers, Inc., is the nation’s leading building of luxury homes. Headquartered in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania, the company was founded in 1967 and has grown to become a vertically integrated producer of luxury homes nationwide. In 1998, corporate sales for Toll Brothers totaled $1.2 billion.
"Our homebuilding operations are rapidly expanding in northern Virginia’s Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William Counties as well as in adjacent states," Toll Brothers, Inc. Vice President of Finance Frederick N. Cooper said. "We look forward to our second manufacturing plant, located in Emporia, which will increase our efficiencies and production capabilities. The invaluable efforts of Emporia’s and Virginia’s state officials have made this expansion possible."
Governor Gilmore approved a grant from the Governor’s Opportunity Fund in the amount of $200,000 to assist the City of Emporia with site and building improvements. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Emporia-Greensville Industrial Development Corporation and the City of Emporia assisted the company with its decision. The Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation will assist Toll Brothers by providing rail access funding. Workforce training services will be provided by the Virginia Department of Business Assistance.
"The Toll Brothers facility is extremely important to the Commonwealth and the City of Emporia," Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal said. "The company has Virginia’s full support and will benefit from the plant’s strategic location in southern Virginia."
