Manufacturing company will create 40 new jobs in Southwest Virginia
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that CBF, LLC has chosen Tazewell County for its new high-tech metal fabrication facility. The company will invest over $2.5 million in the project and create 40 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed with Kentucky for the investment.
"This decision will assist Tazewell County in diversifying its local economy," Governor Gilmore said. "New manufacturers such as CBF provide excellent job opportunities for the people of Southwest Virginia who are working diligently to attract new businesses, industries and high-paying jobs."
CBF will locate its manufacturing operation in a new building in the Cedar Land Industrial Park. The facility will primarily use aluminum as well as stainless and carbon steel to implement the latest technology in shearing, punching, laser cutting and forming steel parts.
"We selected Tazewell County because of the region's quality workforce," President of CBF, LLC Jerry Cardea said. "Virginia's favorable business climate and lower payroll taxes also played major roles in our decision. We foresee tremendous growth opportunities in Southwest Virginia."
"CBF will not only contribute to Tazewell County's economy, but will pay its employees competitive wages," Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal added. "Virginia is pleased that CBF has confidence in our dedicated workforce."
Governor Gilmore approved a grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund in the amount of $100,000 to assist Tazewell County with site preparation. In making the selection, CBF worked with the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority and Tazewell County. The Virginia Department of Business Assistance will provide workforce training services to the company.
