RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Safco Products Company, a supplier of office products solutions, will invest $17 million to open a distribution facility in Isle of Wight County. The company, which will distribute organization- and comfort-enhancing products for the office and workplace environments, will create 40 jobs.

Kaine today announced that The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company’s Danville, Virginia, facility, the world’s largest aircraft tire and medium radial truck tire manufacturing plant, is planning to invest $200 million over the next several years to improve its technology and enable the plant to produce more of the innovative commercial tire products that are in strong demand in the marketplace.
RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Westport Corporation, a Kentucky based automotive components company, will invest approximately $3 million to open an assembly plant in the City of Roanoke. The company will occupy the 203,000-square-foot former Smurfit-Stone building. The new facility, which will assemble axles for the Volvo Heavy Truck plant in Dublin, will employ 60 people. Virginia successfully competed with West Virginia for the project.
RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Dulles, Virginia-based Orbital Sciences Corporation has confirmed its selection of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS), located at Wallops Island in Accomack County on Virginia's Eastern Shore, as its base of operations for the company's new Taurus II rocket. Orbital will invest approximately $45 million in Virginia to assemble, test and launch the Taurus II space launch vehicle.
RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that AREVA NP Inc. will invest $25 million to expand its U.S. headquarters in the City of Lynchburg. The company will increase its existing engineering/nuclear service staff in anticipation of future orders for nuclear reactors, creating 500 jobs. Charlotte, North Carolina, where AREVA NP has a large engineering function, also was a contender.
