RICHMOND - Governor Terry McAuliffe announced today that Ireland-based Anord Control Systems Ltd., a leading provider of critical power infrastructure to the global data center industry, will invest $950,000 to establish its first U.S. operation, Anord Critical Power Inc., in Henrico County.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today announced that Microsoft Corp. will invest $150 million to expand their generation data center (Gen4) site in Mecklenburg County. The company will build an additional facility and add 21 MW of electric power capacity to the site. The project will create 10 new jobs. Microsoft’s original project in 2010 involved an investment of up to $499 million and 50 new jobs.
RICHMOND - Governor Terry McAuliffe today announced that Munters Corporation, a manufacturer of energy recovery systems, dehumidification systems and custom air handling equipment, will invest $2.5 million to expand and upgrade equipment at its manufacturing operation in Buena Vista. Virginia successfully competed against several other states for the project, which will create 100 new jobs.
RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Clifton Forge will be the site of a new statewide customer service and data center for the Smart Tag/E-ZPass electronic toll system. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) signed a $45 million contract with TransCore to design and operate the center. TransCore, a provider of technology-based services and products that enable customers to efficiently manage ground transportation systems, assets, and transactions, will invest $1.4 million to open the facility.
AutoZone, Inc., the nation’s leading auto parts retailer and distributor of automotive replacement parts and accessories, will invest $185.2 million to establish a new warehouse and distribution center in New Kent County.
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that AFFINA has selected Bridgeway Commerce Park in Suffolk as the site for its new 40,000-square-foot customer contact center. Through an investment of $5 million, this center will support the expansion of 1-800-MEDICARE. The AFFINA contact center will employ up to 450 individuals. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina for this investment.
Astraea to invest $1 million to expand startup IT operation
RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell and GE (www.ge.com; NYSE:GE) announced today plans for the advanced technology, services and finance company to open an Information Security Technology Center in Henrico County. Employment for the Center is expected to create approximately 200 new high-tech jobs focused on cyber security, as well as network design, architecture, data management, and application development over the next few years.
