RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today announced that Rackspace® Hosting, (NYSE: RAX), the open cloud company, is expanding its IT hosting operation in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center in Montgomery County. The project will result in a $5.5 million investment in building construction and improvements and is expected to provide capacity for more than 100 new jobs at the Rackspace facility.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today announced that Digital Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE: DLR), a leading global provider of data center solutions, plans to invest at least $150 million by 2015 in its Loudoun County operation. The company is expanding and upgrading data center facilities in Loudoun County, and expecting to create at least 50 new jobs through June 30, 2015.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that Amazon Web Services, Inc., (AWS), will expand in Fairfax County by establishing an office. AWS designs and offers cloud computing services to businesses, government and educational organizations, including web hosting, application hosting, storage and backup, content delivery, and scalable database solutions. The company plans to establish an office to support the business and mission information technology requirements for the public sector and commercial customers of AWS cloud services.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today announced that Microsoft Corp. will invest $348 million to expand its modular data center site in Mecklenburg County. The company will build two additional facilities on its data center campus to increase capacity to serve its growing customer base. The project will create 30 new jobs. Microsoft’s original project in 2010 involved an investment of up to $499 million and 50 new jobs. In 2011 the company invested an additional $150 million to expand the site.

McLEAN - Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that Intelsat, the world’s leading provider of satellite services, plans to move its U.S. headquarters from Washington, D.C., to Fairfax County. Upon relocating in mid-2014, Intelsat will move at least 430 employees to Virginia.

Intelsat will lease approximately 188,000 square feet of space in Tysons Tower, a 20-story, state-of-the-art office building that is being built by Macerich (NYSE:MAC) at Tysons Corner Center.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today announced that Virginia-based Capital One Financial Corporation (NYSE: COF) will invest more than $150 million to establish a new data center in Chesterfield County. This Virginia data center is part of Capital One’s core IT infrastructure that incorporates new technologies to better meet customer needs. Capital One recently completed acquisitions of ING Direct and HSBC’s US credit card portfolio. The project will create at least 50 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed against Texas for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that GSI Commerce, a leading provider of ecommerce and interactive marketing solutions, will invest approximately $1.5 million to expand in Henry County. The leased fulfillment facility will create more than 60 new jobs.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that Advance Auto Parts, Inc., (NYSE: AAP), a leading automotive aftermarket retailer of parts, batteries, accessories, and maintenance items, will add a Financial Services Commercial Customer Care Center to its operation and corporate headquarters in the City of Roanoke and will invest $8 million to support this expansion, as well as other growth.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that Virginia has landed a collaborative project to establish a facility for the testing and certification of large offshore and land-based electricity-producing wind turbines. The project, called Poseidon Atlantic, will be the first such facility in the United States and will help fill a growing need globally for facilities that test and certify wind turbines. The initial phase of the project is to be developed on Virginia’s Eastern Shore in Northampton County.

The company will build an additional facility and add 21 MW of electric power capacity to the site. The project will create 10 new jobs. Microsoft’s original project in 2010 involved an investment of up to $499 million and 50 new jobs.
