Company's expansion will create 366 new jobs for Hampton Roads region

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Coastal Training Technologies Corp. will expand its Virginia Beach facility. The new 100,000-square-foot expansion will create 366 new jobs and a $14 million investment. A $500,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund will be given to the city to assist with site acquisition. Secretary of Commerce and Trade Barry E. DuVal attended today's announcement ceremony.

Virginia emerges as automotive leader with $148 million investment, nearly 1,300 new jobs

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore yesterday announced in his State of the Commonwealth address to the Virginia General Assembly that Volvo Trucks North America will expand its Pulaski County assembly plant and add 1,277 new jobs for Virginians. The $148 million investment will allow the company to increase manufacturing capacity and add new support operations.

Aspen Motion Technologies will locate $9.2 million manufacturing facility in City of Radford

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Aspen Motion Technologies will locate a $9.2 million manufacturing facility in the City of Radford for production of its high level electromechanical assemblies. The company will create up to 171 new jobs over the next three years at the Radford Shell Building. Virginia successfully competed with Pennsylvania for the investment.

Governor Gilmore announces 1,000 new jobs for Hampton Roads

Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Towers Perrin, one of the world's largest management and benefits consulting firms, will locate a $33 million facility in the City of Chesapeake. The facility will serve as the firm's newest National Employee Benefits Center (NEBC), a high-tech benefits administration facility scheduled to open in the summer of 1999. Towers Perrin will create over 1,000 jobs in Hampton Roads at the world-class facility. 

Expansion will create up to 92 new jobs; more than $8 million investment

Loudoun County - Governor Jim Gilmore today formally announced the decision by MCI WorldCom, Inc., to locate and expand its operation in Loudoun County. The campus will house MCI WorldCom's Information Technology operations and will serve as an operations center for its subsidiary UUNET Technologies, Inc. As many as 4,000 jobs will be located in Loudoun County by 2001. The 1.3 million square-foot facility will be the company's largest campus. MCI WorldCom will invest $200 million in the facility.
