RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that Microsoft Corp. will invest up to $499 million to locate their latest generation data center (Gen4) in Mecklenburg County, in what will be the largest economic investment in Southern Virginia history. Using modular technology and advanced cooling mechanics, the center will be Microsoft’s most advanced data center. The project will create 50 new jobs and Virginia successfully competed against North Carolina and Texas to secure this sought after facility.

The project will create 160 new jobs.
RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today announced that QTS (Quality Technology Services), one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing privately held providers of data center facilities and managed services, has acquired the former 1.3 million square-foot Qimonda facility, which includes nearly $1.1 billion dollars of existing state-of-the-art infrastructure in Henrico County. QTS will invest more than $100 million over the next three years to retrofit the property to provide the most secure and reliable data center services in the area.
RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Criticon, a data processing and preparation host, will invest $115 million to open a 150,000-square-foot co-location data storage center in the City of Harrisonburg. The project will create 25 new jobs paying an average $80,000 salary.

Kaine today announced that Dollar Tree Stores, Inc., the nation's leading operator of single-price point dollar stores, will expand its corporate headquarters in Chesapeake by 75,000-square-feet. The expansion, which includes additional office space, a new data center, regional training facilities, and an auditorium, will create 100 new jobs. The project is in addition to the company’s current 120,000-square-foot headquarters facility and 400,000-square-foot distribution center in Chesapeake, both of which opened in 1997.

Kaine today announced that Terremark Worldwide, Inc., a leading operator of integrated Internet exchanges and a global provider of managed Information Technology (IT) infrastructure solutions for government and private sectors, expects to invest approximately $270 million over the next 5-7 years to open a data center campus on a 30-acre site in Culpeper County. The project is expected to create 250 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed with New Jersey, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania for the project.
RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Holston Medical Group (HMG), a multi-specialty physician practice, will invest $3 million to open its first medical records data center in Scott County. The company, which will create 40 new jobs, will access and store the digital medical records of patients for multiple practices and hospitals in Northeast Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. HMG also intends to augment the medical records facility with a multi-physician facility offering a full range of diagnostic services for Southwest Virginia.

Kaine today announced that Command Information, the largest pure-play IPv6 company in the United States, will open America’s first IPv6 training center in the town of Herndon in Fairfax County. The project will create 400 new Information Technology networking, design and security jobs.
RICHMOND - In just two years, eight companies that participated in the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) two-year Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) program increased annual international sales by 30 percent. Launched in January 2002, the program assists exporters in the Commonwealth that have firmly established domestic operations and are committed to international exporting as an expansion strategy. The graduating class began the program with a combined $22,450,921 in annual international sales.
LYNCHBURG - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that RR Donnelley, a provider of print and related services, will invest $85 million to expand manufacturing operations at its three Virginia plants, creating a combined 139 new jobs within 30 months. The company will invest $38 million in Roanoke County; $29 million in the City of Lynchburg; and $17 million in Rockingham County. Virginia successfully competed against several other states for the project.
