High-tech Company's $3 Million Investment will Create and Retain 60 Jobs
Radford - Governor George Allen today announced the decision by Kollmorgen Motion Technologies Group to expand their service center in the City of Radford, a $3 million investment which will retain 30 current jobs for Virginia, and create another 30 at a new building at the Radford Corporate Campus West. Virginia successfully competed against New York for the investment by Kollmorgen.
Commonwealth Biotechnologies, Inc. to Create 30 New Jobs, Retain 35
Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that Commonwealth Biotechnologies, Inc., (CBI), will locate a new 30,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility in Chesterfield County's Gateway Centre. The $4 million investment will create 30 new jobs for Virginians over the next year-and-a-half, and secure 35 current jobs. Virginia successfully competed with Maryland for the project.

Town of Lebanon - Governor George Allen today announced the decision by the Reynolds Metals Company to locate its new forging and finishing operations at the company's existing wheel manufacturing plant in Southwest Virginia. The Fortune 500 Virginia-based company will invest $26 million in the facility creating 67 new jobs for Russell County. Virginia successfully competed with Wisconsin and Canada for the investment.
Plumbing Supply Distributor to Create 125 Jobs in the Shenandoah Valley
Richmond - Representatives from the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology, and businesses from across the Commonwealth recently attended COMDEX/Fall '97, one of the world's leading computer and communications trade shows, held in Las Vegas. The new plant is TXI's Virginia steel recycling plant, and is the largest new industrial recruitment in Virginia this year. Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that AVID Medical, Inc., a newly-formed medical products company, will locate a $2.25 million plant in James City County, creating 100 new jobs over the next three years. AVID Medical's decision is the second major economic development announcement made in the past two months for James City County's Stonehouse Commerce Park.
