John Deere’s manufacturing plant will allow for creation of 300 new jobs for Peninsula
James City County - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that John Deere will locate a $30 million research, development and manufacturing facility in the Stonehouse Commerce Park in James City County. The company will employ more than 300 people when the plant is fully operational. Virginia successfully competed with South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia for the investment.
Koji Deguchi named to senior post by Governor Gilmore and the Japan External Trade Organization

Company’s expansion in Suffolk will create 130 jobs, save 75
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced New Dominion Pictures’ decision to remain in Virginia and expand its operations in the City of Suffolk. New Dominion Pictures, a producer and distributor of television programs, will invest $5.5 million in the expansion, which will initially bring 75 jobs to Suffolk. An additional 130 jobs will be created within 30 months. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina and Tennessee for the investment.
Innotech, a division of Johnson & Johnson, to invest at least $125 million in Roanoke area
Roanoke - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Innotech, a division of Johnson & Johnson, plans to locate a new $125 million-plus vision products production facility in the City of Roanoke. The company will create up to 600 new jobs within three years of opening. The investment is the largest new plant investment in Roanoke Valley history.
Japanese company will create 200 new jobs, $37 million investment
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Koyo Steering Systems of USA, Inc. will locate an advanced technology facility at the Botetourt Center at Greenfield, in Botetourt County. The new facility will be the U.S. headquarters of steering systems and will be the first to manufacture electronic steering systems. The company plans to hire 200 people within the next three to five years through a $37 million initial investment.

German transportation company to create 100 jobs in South Hampton Roads
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Innovations in Transportation, Inc. (INIT) has decided to locate its North American headquarters in the City of Chesapeake. INIT is a leading provider of computer-integrated Intelligent Transportation Systems throughout Europe and the United States. The company plans to hire 100 employees within five years and will initially invest $2 million in the facility.
