Sterling, Executive Director of the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP), received the Special Recognition Award by the Associated General Contractors of Virginia (AGC) on January 18, 1997. The award was presented during AGC's annual convention held at the Homestead Resort. 

Deal Follows Governor Allen's Visit to Korea

Lynchburg - Governor George Allen today announced that telecommunications leader Ericsson Inc. has signed a radio dispatch equipment order worth $33 million with Samsung International. The order names the Lynchburg manufacturer as the primary supplier of advanced digital dispatch radio equipment to Samsung of Korea. Governor Allen met with Samsung officials during his 1996 trade mission to the Far East.

Steel Manufacturing Company To Locate In Washington County, Create 80 Jobs

Richmond - Governor George Allen announced today the decision by Southern Engineering to locate a new steel manufacturing plant in Washington County. The new facility will create 80 new jobs with an initial investment of $5 million.

Site Will Enhance Virginia's Marketing Capabilities to Attract Jobs and Investment

$75 Million Investment To Create 85 New Jobs

Stuarts Draft - Governor George Allen today announced that Hershey Foods will expand its manufacturing facility in the Stuarts Draft area of Augusta County, Virginia. The new 200,000 square foot facility will employ 85 additional Virginians, with an initial investment of $75 million.

Enterprise Zone Attracts Millwork Manufacturer, 200 Jobs

Richmond - Governor George Allen announced today that Barber and Ross Millwork Company will invest $4 million to establish new manufacturing operations in Richmond. The company will employ 200 by 1999 and will operate in Richmond's North Enterprise Zone.

New Technical Support Center will Create 300 High Tech Jobs

Richmond - Less than six months after participating in the company's grand opening dedication in Hampton, Virginia Governor George Allen today announced that Gateway 2000, the nation's leading global marketer of personal computers, will invest an additional $2 million to locate a new technical support call center at its $18 million Hampton facility. The call center will create 300 technical jobs.

Boise Cascade to Create 550 Jobs

Richmond - Virginia Governor George Allen today announced that Chicago-based Boise Cascade Office Products Corporation, an international office products distributor, will invest $7.5 million to locate a customer call center in Bristol that will create 550 new jobs. The company will locate the call center at an existing 80,000 square foot shell building in the city.

Woodstock Manufacturing to Create 400 Jobs

Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that Woodstock Manufacturing Corporation has decided to establish operations in Shenandoah County. The new manufacturing operation will create 400 jobs over the next two years.
