OSI will invest $2 million in financial services facility
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Outsourcing Solutions Inc. (OSI), the nation's leading receivables management company, will locate a service center in Henrico County creating 375 new jobs. In addition, 65 employees will be retained from the company's Chesterfield County facility. Virginia successfully competed with New Jersey and Massachusetts for the investment.
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that VFP, Inc. will create 100 new jobs at its Concrete Division plant in Scott County. The Roanoke-based manufacturer will invest $1.2 million in the expansion. The plant opened in June 1997.
"VFP is a respected company that relies on Southwest Virginia's workforce," Governor Gilmore said. "As a growing Virginia-based company and a participant in my trade mission to South America last year, I'm pleased that VFP's product orders have exceeded expectations."
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that the City of Martinsville is breaking ground for its new shell building. The City received a $945,000 loan from the Commonwealth to fund the facility. The 50,000 square-foot building will be located in the Clearview Business Park on the corner of Clearview and Progress Drive. Deputy Secretary of Commerce and Trade Joshua N. Lief represented the Governor at today's ceremony.
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that the Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) will open a new economic development office in Seoul, Korea in January 2000. The office's functions will be to recruit Korean companies to the Commonwealth and establish trade relationships between Virginia and Korean companies. This office joins other global VEDP offices located in Tokyo, Japan; Frankfurt, Germany; Hong Kong; Mexico City, Mexico; and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Avenir, Inc., an information technology company headquartered in New York City, will locate a new software development facility in Prince William County. Avenir will create 166 new jobs in Virginia through a $3 million investment. The Commonwealth successfully competed with New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C. and Maryland for the project.
Paint and coatings manufacturer invests $2 million
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Blue Ridge Technology Inc. (BRT), a manufacturer of environmentally safe paints and inks, will locate a new facility in Henry County. The company plans to initially hire 40 new employees and create a total of 100 new jobs by the end of 2000. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina for the project.
Process Integration invests $16 million in wheel polishing plant
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Process Integration Company will locate a new $16 million manufacturing facility in Russell County. The company, which polishes and clear coats aluminum automotive wheels, will create 50 new jobs for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) suppliers including the neighboring Reynolds Wheels International facility in the Town of Lebanon. Virginia successfully competed with Georgia, Ohio and Nebraska for the investment.
Covad Communications' Decision Heightens Virginia's Emergence as a Technology Leader
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Covad Communications will locate a new national technical center in Prince William County. The broadband services company could ultimately create approximately 1,000 technology jobs at the center with a potential total investment of $35 million.
Worldwide doctor referral organization locates in Arlington County; will create 50 jobs
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Best Doctors, Inc., an independent doctor referral organization, has selected Arlington County for its new service center. The company will create 50 new jobs in the region and invest at least $500,000 in the facility this year. Virginia successfully competed with Georgia and New York for the investment.
Manufacturer to create 40 new jobs, invest $11 million in new production lines
Richmond - Governor Jim Gilmore today announced that Ball Corporation, a manufacturer of metal and plastic packaging products for beverages and foods, will invest $11 million in its existing Bristol facility. The expansion will create 40 new jobs for Virginians this year. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina and Indiana for the investment.
