RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Dollar Tree Stores, Inc., the nation's leading operator of single-price point dollar stores, will expand its corporate headquarters in Chesapeake by 75,000-square-feet. The expansion, which includes additional office space, a new data center, regional training facilities, and an auditorium, will create 100 new jobs. The project is in addition to the company’s current 120,000-square-foot headquarters facility and 400,000-square-foot distribution center in Chesapeake, both of which opened in 1997.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine announced today that INIT Innovations in Traffic Systems AG, a supplier of telematics and electronic fare management systems for public transit, will invest more than half a million dollars to expand its subsidiary and North American headquarters, INIT Innovations in Transportation, Inc., in Chesapeake.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Quality Culvert Inc., a Florida-based manufacturer of plastic and concrete pipe, will invest $6.8 million to build a new 58,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the Greensville County Industrial Park. The project will create 50 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina for the project.

RICHMOND - A combined eight companies from across the Commonwealth will graduate Thursday from two state export programs, carrying with them the tools and know-how necessary to export their products and services overseas. The graduating companies will be recognized during a noon luncheon Thursday at the Omni Hotel.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Terremark Worldwide, Inc., a leading operator of integrated Internet exchanges and a global provider of managed Information Technology (IT) infrastructure solutions for government and private sectors, expects to invest approximately $270 million over the next 5-7 years to open a data center campus on a 30-acre site in Culpeper County. The project is expected to create 250 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed with New Jersey, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania for the project.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Federal-Mogul Corporation, a global automotive supplier, will place assets in value of $12.7 million and create up to 71 new jobs as it increases production at its facility in Montgomery County. Federal-Mogul’s Virginia facility produces high volume anti-friction engine and replacement bearings made from a unique bonding process of steel and aluminum. Governor Kaine met with Federal-Mogul officials at the company’s corporate headquarters in Detroit, Michigan, in February.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that SRI International, an independent, nonprofit research institute, will establish its new Center for Advanced Drug Research in the Rockingham Center for Research and Technology in Rockingham County.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Merck & Co., Inc. will invest $57 million to expand the role its Elkton facility plays in producing GARDASIL®, Merck’s cervical cancer vaccine. The investment will include construction of a new building and the installation of equipment for the purification process—a key stage in manufacturing the product. Merck recently completed construction of a vaccine fermentation facility at Elkton, which will be used to support an earlier stage in the GARDASIL manufacturing process.

RICHMOND - Governor Timothy M. Kaine today announced that Philip Morris USA will invest up to $100 million in its York County facility to support the company’s growth strategy. The company, which will initially create 75 new jobs, will occupy the former York Manufacturing Center, which closed in 2003. Operations are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2007, and additional new jobs are anticipated as the new facility ramps up production.
