RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Narroflex, Inc. will expand its existing textile facility in Patrick County. The company’s decision to stay in Virginia and increase its production capacity will save 245 existing jobs and create 205 new jobs through a $9 million investment. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina for the project.
WASHINGTON COUNTY - Governor Mark R. Warner today joined state, regional and local officials at the ribbon-cutting event for the new Glade Highlands shell building. Located on a 19-acre site in the Glade Highlands Industrial Park, the new 87,500-square-foot building is jointly owned by the Smyth-Washington Regional Industrial Facilities Authority.
MECKLENBURG COUNTY - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced the unveiling of three new industrial parks in Mecklenburg County – a first for a rural Virginia community. RICHMOND - Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Kentucky Derby Hosiery will expand its high-tech sock knitting operations in Carroll County. The company plans to employ 72 new workers at its current 56,000-square-foot facility in the Carroll County Industrial Park. Virginia competed with North Carolina and Kentucky for the multi-million dollar project.
RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) Division of International Trade today announced plans to attend COMDEX Brazil 2002 to promote the export of Virginia products and services. The largest information technology trade show in Latin America, COMDEX will be held in São Paulo, Brazil August 20-23, 2002.
RICHMOND - Virginia Governor Mark R. Warner today announced that Trinity Packaging Corporation, a manufacturer of food service and industrial plastic bag products, will create 300 new jobs through a $9.1 million investment in Franklin County’s Town of Rocky Mount. The company announced in February that it would build a new plant in Clarksville, but has now decided that an existing facility in Franklin County would meet its immediate needs due to timing and cost issues.
RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) Division of International Trade today announced that two international universities have joined the state’s Global Market Research (GMR) program. The Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico City, Mexico and Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) in São Paulo, Brazil are the first international universities to participate in the GMR program, which links Virginia businesses interested in exploring international markets with participating graduate business schools.

The expansion is a result of the consolidation and relocation of three business activities in Michigan, Indiana and Connecticut. The company will create 55 new jobs through an investment of $2.6 million.
