Two-year export program provides resources to support international business expansion to two city of Newport News companies

Fourteen Virginia companies recognized for completing two-year international business acceleration program

RICHMOND—The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) today announced that 14 companies from across the Commonwealth have graduated from its Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program. The program, which now has 304 graduates, assists Virginia exporters that have firmly established their domestic operations and are committed to international exporting as a growth strategy.

Expansion of longstanding facility will create 15 new jobs

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Flowers Foods, one of the nation’s largest producers of packaged baked foods, will invest $25 million to expand and transform its Lynchburg bakery into an organic facility, creating 15 new jobs. The bakery, which the company has operated for more than 40 years, will serve the Mid-Atlantic market. Virginia successfully competed with other states for the project.

Company investing to significantly expand the Spruance site

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that DuPont de Nemours, Inc. (DuPont) will modernize and expand its manufacturing and technology presence in Chesterfield County, the company’s largest manufacturing site. A global provider of technology-based materials, ingredients, and solutions, DuPont will invest more than $75 million in the Spruance site, creating approximately 60 new jobs over the next several years.

Stephanie Agee serves as Senior Vice President of International Trade and Chief Administrative Officer at the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, where she provides leadership and oversight of programs designed to support Virginia companies in growing their international sales and oversees the agency’s human resource, information technology, and fiscal and support services.

The Virginia Talent Accelerator Program, delivered by VEDP in partnership with the Virginia Community College System, provides world-class training and recruitment solutions that are fully customized to a company’s unique operations, equipment, standards, and culture. All program services are provided at no cost to qualified new and expanding companies as an incentive for job creation.

Company will invest $175 million to establish new regional distribution operation

RICHMOND—Governor Ralph Northam today announced that Wegmans Food Markets, a grocery retailer with stores throughout the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions, will invest $175 million to establish a full-service, regional distribution operation in Hanover County. Virginia successfully competed with North Carolina for the project, which will create 700 new jobs.
