Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that "K" Line America, Inc., an integrated ocean intermodal transportation company, will relocate its corporate headquarters from Murray Hill, New Jersey, to Henrico County, investing $8 million and creating 90 new jobs in Greater Richmond. In 1996, "K" Line located a national service center in Chesterfield County which has since hired over 135 employees. Virginia successfully competed with New Jersey for the relocation.

Nexus Communications to Create 550 Jobs for Southwest Virginia

Dickenson County - Governor George Allen today announced that Nexus Communications will locate a new $4.3 million call center in Dickenson County's Happy Valley Industrial Park. Approximately 130 employees will be hired initially, followed by as many as 550 over the next three years. Virginia successfully competed with Maryland for the investment.

Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that New Jersey-based Chubb Group of Insurance Companies will locate its first Rapid Response Unit centralized claim service center in Chesapeake. The $10 million facility expects to employ more than 250 people when it opens in 1998 and may expand in future years.

Governor Welcomes Three New Companies to the Commonwealth

Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that three European companies have decided to locate operations in Virginia, creating approximately 45 new jobs for Virginians. These companies represent three different countries and will provide a variety of products. Harkness Screens will locate a manufacturing facility in Fredericksburg; Trados Corporation will locate a new office in Alexandria; and Digigram SA, will locate its North American headquarters in Arlington.

Governor Allen Congratulates Petersburg Bearing Manufacturer

Petersburg - Governor George Allen today announced that Brenco, Incorporated, a manufacturer of railcar tapered roller bearings, has signed a long term, 10-year sales contract with Compania Industrial AZO of Mexico worth an estimated one million dollars during the first year. Additionally, Brenco will remain the exclusive distributor of roller bearings for the next nine years, leading to a total estimated value of $10 million.

Market Connections Company to Open $3.5 Million Facility

Richmond - Governor George Allen today announced that Market Connections Company, a new global communications firm specializing in health care, will locate its worldwide headquarters in the City of Norfolk. Market Connections will lease a 30,000 square-foot building and invest $3.5 million. The company will initially hire 125 employees, followed by an additional 175 by January 1998.

Roanoke - Governor George Allen today announced that Maple Leaf Bakery, Inc., a subsidiary of Maple Leaf Foods, will locate a new food processing facility in Roanoke. The company will locate a 100,000 square foot plant in the city's Enterprise Zone with an initial investment of $22 million and creating approximately 150-180 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed with Pennsylvania, Maryland and North Carolina for the investment.
