RICHMOND - The Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) International Trade division today announced the release of “Export Opportunities for Virginia’s Defense Industry.” VEDP-International Trade’s focus is to promote the exports of Virginia companies with the goal to grow jobs and increase the state’s tax base. As the U.S. Federal Government cuts back on defense spending, there are significant opportunities for Virginia’s defense companies to grow sales abroad.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that Amazon Web Services, Inc., (AWS), will expand in Fairfax County by establishing an office. AWS designs and offers cloud computing services to businesses, government and educational organizations, including web hosting, application hosting, storage and backup, content delivery, and scalable database solutions. The company plans to establish an office to support the business and mission information technology requirements for the public sector and commercial customers of AWS cloud services.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today announced that HP Hood, one of the largest branded dairy operators in the United States, will invest $84.6 million in its Frederick County operation. The company will expand the facility to increase ultra-high temperature production capacity, creating 75 new jobs. This project represents the largest investment by an expanding company in Frederick County in 30 years.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that Canon Virginia Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., Inc., will invest $27 million to expand its operation in the City of Newport News. Canon Virginia, Inc. will add the manufacturing of toner for Canon copiers in 30,000 square feet of upgraded space at its Newport News campus.

Governor McDonnell met with Canon Inc. in Tokyo about this project during his recent Asia Marketing Mission.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell announced today that Tempur Sealy International, Inc., the world’s largest bedding provider, will invest $13.3 million in facility development and improvements at its manufacturing operation at Duffield Industrial Park in Scott County. The expansion project will create 42 new jobs. Virginia successfully competed against New Mexico for the project.

RICHMOND - Twelve companies from across the Commonwealth will graduate Thursday from the Virginia Economic Development Partnership’s (VEDP) Virginia Leaders in Export Trade (VALET) Program, touting impressive results from their newly acquired tools to successfully export products and services overseas. The graduating companies will be recognized during a noon luncheon at the downtown Omni Hotel.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today announced that Rackspace® Hosting, (NYSE: RAX), the open cloud company, is expanding its IT hosting operation in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center in Montgomery County. The project will result in a $5.5 million investment in building construction and improvements and is expected to provide capacity for more than 100 new jobs at the Rackspace facility.

RICHMOND - Governor Bob McDonnell today announced that PRUFREX Innovative Power Products GmbH, the worldwide leading full-service system partner in the development and production of highly-integrated digital ignition systems and electronic control units, will invest $7.33 million to establish its first U.S. manufacturing facility in the City of Virginia Beach. The company will supply ignition components for U.S. customers, including nearby BMZ Batteries and STIHL Inc., which produces the number one selling brand of chain saws.
